
The Campodoglio was designed by Michelangelo. His design did not include the
overly large statues at the top of the ramp.
Ancient they may be, but they don't fit there.

This river god fits in perfectly


On either side of the square are the buildings of the Capitoline museum. It
claims to be the world's oldest museum. The two sides are now joined by an
underground passage that also gives access to the Tabularium. Wonderful views of the
Forum from here.
Also a nice cafe on the roof.



The dying Gaul. 
The original statue of Marcus Aurelius is still stuck behind glass in the courtyard.
They renovated it and don't know what to do with it. The statue in the square is an
excellent copy.

A short trip on the Metro takes you to EUR.

An Expo site in Fascist times, it is now an area of offices and the Museo della Civilta
Romana. Not worth the visit except for the models shown here.


This wondeful scale model of ancient Rome is in the building opposite the ticket
office,
although, in fine Italian style, there is nothing to tell you that.

This was in a closed off area.
