The famous Montsegur is the most arduous climb, for the least reward.  The castle is not the original from Cathar times and is little more than four walls.  We are not sure it is worth the effort.

We preferred the castle at Termes.  This is extensively, and deliberately, ruined.

On the way there we saw an accident site on the twisty mountain road.  It looks like the railings just stopped a car from going over the edge.  A memorable day for someone.

We were a short drive from the Donjon at Arques.
