The second best meal of our lives - only Pierre Gagnaire, Paris has beaten it. The Rome Cavalieri Hilton has imported German chef, Heinz Beck. He has just achieved his second Michelin star and we think it should be three. The service was impeccable and friendly. It is on a hill overlooking Rome, so the view is breathtaking. Each course came as two or three plates, which provided several 'aspects' of the main ingredients. One highlight was the ice cream of balsamico and black truffle served beside the foie gras. Utterly gobsmacking. Here are the menus. We had the set Gourmet menu. This included seven small courses of dessert and began with two services of appetizers.
Our second visit was also sensational. The service not quite as perfect, but Chef Beck was in even more powerful form. The desserts were on a higher level, as well.
