
It is very poignant to see how those we perceive as peaceful nations fought alongside
Britain and lost so many.
Beaumont Hammel is the memorial to, mainly, the men of Newfoundland.
One can see the trenches of each side, with the Germans deeply entrenched and able to
withstand bombardment.



The midway of "no man's land" was marked by this blasted
tree. 

At Delville Wood, the bravery of the South African forces is commemorated.
