The magnificent St. Peter's. Too crowded to go up the dome this time, so no
photos of that.

Our second visit was just as crowded and the whole area is becoming unsightly.
Barriers and filthy plastic chairs everywhere.

Michelangelo's Pieta, taken without flash, as are all my photos inside churches.
As it is behind glass (reflective), the clowns using flash probably get the result they
deserve.

Santa Maria del Popolo is very beautiful inside, with some quirky features.

Santa Maria in Trastevere is worth a walk across the river.

Michelangelo's Risen Christ, in Santa Maria sopra Minerva
(guarded by Bernini's elephant), is sporting his loincloth these days.

Il Gesu, the main Jesuit church, is very richly decorated.

St. Giovanni in Laterano. St. John's.
This is the site of the first church built, in Rome, when Christianity was legalised.
It is Rome's cathedral.

Another contender for the oldest doors.

In St. Pietro in Vinicoli, Michelangelo's Moses is undergoing restoration. This
is to clean the pores of wax from when a cast was taken some years ago.
All the depictions of Moses show him sporting a pair of horns. This is because the
Hebrew for 'rays of radiance' was mistranslated as 'horns'. What can I say,
but...keep taking the tablets.
