A house in the Northern Bresse region of Burgundy, styled as a Swiss chalet perhaps. It is secluded in a private, fenced woodland area and approached from the rear. The front of the house has a grassy area leading down to the River Seille (pronounced say). A bit steep down to the river bank, so some sort of steps will have to be installed. Nice little fishing area there, but no bites yet. The approach to the house is a wooded area where deer are sometimes seen, along with
red squirrel, woodpecker and large jay birds.
The main area in the house is a lounge/diner with a vaulted ceiling. The doors at the end open fully to give a feeling of being outdoors. It is a very open space and too difficult to heat in the winter. The wood fire, backed with some electric heating, does allow use in autumn and spring, particularly with the new ceiling fan to bring the warm air back down. The lounge part has a settee and satellite TV. The spiral staircase leads up to an attic space that will, one day, be converted into another room. The main bedroom, with 180cm bed. The second bedroom has a clic-clac bed settee. It also serves as a winter lounge
when the main settee and TV are brought in. The two bedrooms and bathroom are an
extension to the house and their modern construction makes them easy to keep warm. The bathroom, with shower and bidet, is accessible from the lounge and main bedroom. Very modern with an excellent shower. The washing machine is also here, but no dryer yet. The only toilet is in the older side of the house. Compact but with its own sink and easy to heat. The kitchen is a fair size, with butane hob and small electric combination oven. It is very serviceable, but improvements will be made.
