We were just south of the medieval walled city of Carcassonne.  This is a UNESCO site and is beautifully renovated.  It attracts a lot of tourists, but seems to soak them up and stay 'real'.  I have heard of people not visiting because of excessive tourism, but they are making a big mistake.

We had two very good meals at Hotel La Cité.
